Requirements

Hold an NRPC 1 credential

To be qualified to take the NRPC 2 training, a candidate must hold a valid, non-expired NRPC 1 certification.

Complete the following courses from the NARA NRPC 2 Curriculum:

Formulation of Rules 

The goal of this course is to provide the human care regulators with information related to the science and art of measurement systems as they relate to regulatory administration.

Strengthening Licensing Through Enforcement

The goal of this course is to explore the types of support services that licensing agencies can deliver to providers to help increase compliance and quality care.

Support Service Providers

The goal of this course is to familiarize the human care regulator with the basic principles of rule formulation by explaining the importance of rules in human care regulation and the statutory foundation for human care licensing by describing the types of support services that licensing agencies can deliver to providers to help increase compliance and quality care, applying information related to the science and art of measurement systems as they relate to regulatory administration, and by understanding strategic decision-making strategies and ethical considerations

Program Monitoring Systems

The goal of this course is to detail the process of enforcing licensing rules and regulations, explaining positive and negative enforcement strategies and when to use them, as well as providing instruction and guidance on the requirements and procedures for administrative hearings.

Decesion Making through Legistation*

The goal of this course is to explore the types of support services that licensing agencies can deliver to providers to help increase compliance and quality care.

Total Credential costs for the NRPC 2 training bundle are:

• $625 for members
• $1,250 for non-members

● Each course is billed at $156.25/course for members, and $312.50/course for non-members.

Pass the NRPC2 Comprehensive final exam with 75 or higher

All learners must pass the comprehensive exam with a minimum score of 75. Please email us at [email protected] if ADA accommodations will be required for testing. Candidates are expected to complete the NARA NRPC 2 credential exam from their own knowledge.

● The initial exam fee is billed into the NRPC 2 credential package and includes two NRPC 2 exam attempts.

• NARA NRPC 2 exam 3rd Retake: A candidate must wait 30 days after the second attempt and will be charged $100 to take the exam a third, and final time.
• If the candidate does not pass the comprehensive exam after the third attempt, they may petition for additional attempts.
• Petitions to re-test must be submitted in writing explaining the extenuating circumstances of why an additional attempt should be granted, to the NARA Executive Director, who will make the final decision.
• A fee of $150 will be assessed for subsequent attempts.

Supervisor Verification

The final step in earning your NRPC 2 certification is supervisor verification. Embedded within the courses is a form where you will provide the email address of your direct supervisor. Once you submit your supervisor’s email address, we will send your supervisor a brief verification form. Your supervisor only needs to complete and submit the form. No separate letter of recommendation is required.

After your supervisor completes the verification process, your NRPC 2 certification requirements will be reviewed for completion and your certification can be processed.

Awarding the Credential 

• All five NARA NRPC 2 courses and the NRPC 2 exam must be completed within one year of the NRPC 2 training program access date.
• NARA will review all submitted items and notify the candidate of missing materials within 60 days of submission.
• The candidate has 30 days from notification to submit any missing items.
• Credential will be awarded to all candidates who meet all of the listed requirements.
• Credential is valid for five years from the issuance date and then will need to be renewed to maintain a current credential.
