The costs for NARA NON-NRPC courses (except the writing course) are:

Formulation Of Rules

The goal of this course is to familiarize the human care regulator with the basic principles of rule
formulation. This course will explain the importance of rules in human care regulation and the
statutory foundation for human care licensing rules. Additionally it will define the types of rules
used in the human care regulatory field, describe substantive, procedural, and interpretive rules,
identify the rule formulation process and elements.

Strengthening Licensing Through Enforcement

This course details the process of enforcing licensing rules and regulations including the positive
and negative enforcement strategies and when to use them, as well as providing instruction and
guidance on the requirements and procedures for administrative hearings.

Support Service Providers

This course explores the types of support services that licensing agencies can deliver to providers
to help increase compliance and quality care. It includes an overview of the principles of provider support services, administrative issues and information about developing an agency level provider services program.

Program Monitoring Systems

This course provides human care regulators with information related to the science and art of
measurement systems as they relate to regulatory administration. This includes identifying
important influences on measurement systems and identifying instrument-based program
monitoring tools. Finally, this course will explain the importance of aligning measurement tools
with an agency's regulations.

Human Care Regulatory Writing Course

This course provides human care regulators and agency staff with an understanding of the basics
of professional writing, specifically human regulatory writing. This course will help to recognize
your strengths and weaknesses as a writer, understand and navigate the rule writing process,
become familiar with how to write effective reports, memos, letters, and emails while avoiding
common grammar errors and stylistic problems. Through this work, learners are able to critically
look at their own regulatory writing while getting the best feedback from a supervisor or
colleague.

Regulatory Science

The goal of this course is to introduce and familiarize human care regulators and future research
scientists with the concepts, basic principles and components of regulatory science as a field of
study in human care licensing industries. It outlines the roles and responsibilities of Regulatory
Scientists and details current research and practice within a variety of subject areas.
