Phases of Licensing, Investigation and Evidence In this course, you will learn and apply the skills used during each phase of the licensing process. You will also learn and apply the concepts and skills associated with identifying, collecting and documenting evidence. This course reinforces the “soft” skills that enable you to play the multiple roles of a regulator, educator, consultant, trainer, facilitator/communicator, and enforcer - sometimes all at the same time. Balanced Use of Authority, Managing Complaints, and Suppressing Illegal Operations Your ability to meet the regulatory goal of protecting vulnerable populations depends greatly on how well you understand and manage your use of authority. This online course focuses on the balanced use of authority, which means applying authority in proportion to the situation. Using the balanced approach, you will also learn and apply the proper techniques for fielding and managing complaints and the principles and practices associated with suppressing illegal operations. History, Rule-Making, and Ethics in Human Care Regulation In this course you’ll learn about the foundation and history of human care regulation from early Elizabethan days to today. You’ll examine how social attitudes over time impact the regulatory role and how regulators deal with some of the ethical issues that arise in daily practice. Whether you’re new to the profession or have many years of experience, this course will provide new insights into the roots of regulatory practice and the rationale for much of what you do today. Note: The four courses are designed to provide you with core regulatory tools and methods that are likely to be applicable in most, if not all, jurisdictions. We recognize, however, that specific regulations are “locally based.” Throughout the training you will be reminded to learn more about the rules and practices that guide your own jurisdiction. |
