In Loving Arms:  The protective role of grandparents and other relatives in caring for children

During this webinar, the presenters will explore the protective role of grandparents and other relatives for children who have been exposed to trauma.

Decades of research shows that children being raised in foster care by relatives have better health outcomes, more stability, and a greater sense of belonging compared to children in foster care with non-relatives. When children cannot remain with their parents, placing them with grandparents and other relatives reduces future trauma and mitigates the impact of past trauma. The stability, supportive relationships and extended family network that grandfamilies provide to children, align with research-based protective factors that promote resiliency and healing.

This webinar will also cover the New federal law that requires states to look at their state licensing standards and gives us new definition of "foster family home"

Featuring:
Ana Beltran, JD, Special Advisor, Generations United
