Best Practices
We urge you to get involved in all NARA efforts to promote regulatory professionalism and to enhance respect for its contributions to the development and preservation of nations' human assets. To undertake a project in Best Practices:
We are encouraging agencies to participate in additional pilots to have the benefit of that feedback before final publication of the workbook version. The workbook details suggestions for agency self-assessment and strategic planning to achieve best practices. Additionally, the workbook includes a section for assessment and planning related to agencies' internal staff development process. (In NARA's full plan for professional development, this is designated as the Agency Level Training and Education Track. Competency in this track is the basis for professional credentialing beyond Level 1. Level 1 addresses core knowledge based on the NARA Licensing Curriculum and available onsite and through the USM-Muskie Distance Education service. The five NARA tracks planned will address role-related competencies.)
